Charlotte Magazine “Mac’s Speed Shop is proof that running a great restaurant can actually be a very simple formula: Just make sure that everything on the menu is solid, if not outstanding; keep the beer ice-cold, and be extra friendly to everyone. Everything on the menu at Mac’s is really, really good” |
| The Charlotte Observer The Observer has learned that Rick Browne declares the Texas beef brisket at Mac’s Speed Shop on South Boulevard the “best I’ve ever had.” Which may not strike you as significant unless you know that Browne hosts PBS’s nationally televised “Barbeque America,” has written bushels of barbeque cookbooks and reviews, and is alternately dubbed “Grill Master of the Universe,” “America’s king of outdoor cooking” and “dr. Que.” |

| The Charlotte Observer Mac’s, an old transmission shop on South Boulevard that’s been cleaned out and fitted with tables, chairs and picnic tables out front, serves an array of barbeque and bar food that’s definite cut above the usual. The wings for instance, are the best I’ve tried in years.” |
