Charlotte Observer: Matthews, Mint Hill and Pineville hope brunch bill will expand opportunities

Folks across southern Mecklenburg will no longer have to wait until noon on Sundays to enjoy a mimosa or bloody mary.

Matthews, Mint Hill and Pineville adopted the brunch bill at their town meetings in August allowing alcohol to be served beginning at 10 a.m. on Sundays.

This means that restaurants can serve mixed drinks at brunch and grocery stores can start selling beer and wine two hours earlier on Sundays.

Mint Hill’s Pine Lake Country Club has recently undergone extensive renovations, and general manger Sherry Taylor says the new law couldn’t come at a better time for the club.

“We do a morning brunch once a month, and we will now be able to offer mimosas and bloody marys from the beginning” said Taylor.
